**WINDOWS OF THE WEST BRAND NEW EXCLUSIVE TOUR**
Approximately 3-1/2 hours in length, ability level EASY and suitable for all ages. “Oh give me a home…” We all know the classic western folk song composed by Daniel E. Kelley that is often thought of as the unofficial anthem of the American West. What better way to feel that down home vibe than to spend time exploring a working 2000 acre Western Ranch! Large herds of cattle roam, graze and raise their young in the shadow of stunning white rock ledges replete with unspoiled ancient Indian sites.
Since one of our company owners and all of our guides are Kanab natives, this welcoming family has bestowed upon WINDOWS OF THE WEST, exclusive access to explore their property along with our favored guests. This is a unique opportunity to take a step out of the hustle and bustle of the modern world, to hear the soothing sounds of nature and to see sights that even few locals have had the privilege to behold. We will make frequent stops throughout our journey to view and photograph wildlife which can include roadrunners, mule deer herds or the property’s resident pair of cliff-dwelling Golden Eagles. A 2,000 year old granary high up in the cliffs will give us a glimpse of the culture that once thrived here, and binoculars will be provided to better view this little known treasure.
We will step out of the vehicle for an unhurried walk where the ground beneath your feet is littered with pottery shards, stone tool flakes and other traces of the ancients. Feel free to take as many pictures as your heart desires, or to relax and soak up the peace and tranquility that abounds in this private wonderland. MIDDLE-OF-NOWHERE-RANCH is the home of magnificent Red Cove Canyon, and we will explore its splendor by off-roading through miles of sweet-smelling sage and shady piñons. Further stops will include multiple petroglyph sites, and you will have the opportunity to make and take home rubbings on paper of exquisitely rendered works of rock art.
FUN FACT: Did you know that Home On The Range became the Kansas state song in 1947 and was originally written in the form of a poem in the early 1870’s?
